Should you wish to apply for a Reception place for your child at St. Ann’s CE Primary School, you will need to apply in the Autumn Term the year before the September your child is due to start in Reception. For children due to start in September 2019, applications must be made between 1st September 2018 and 15th January 2019.
Applications for places in St. Ann’s CE Primary School must be made on a Common Application Form from Haringey Council School Admissions. In addition to this a Supplementary Information Form must be completed and handed directly to the School. These forms are available from the School Office.
Prospective parents and pupils are welcome to visit the school by appointment made with the School Administrator.
The Governing Body is responsible for admissions into the school. Should there be more applications than places available the Governors will follow the admissions criteria*.

Enquiries regarding the availability of places further up the school should be made to the School Administrator. As with Reception admissions, applications for places in St. Ann’s CE Primary School must be made on a Common Application Form from Haringey Council School Admissions. In addition to this, an Pupil Information Form and a Supplementary Information Form must be completed and handed directly to the School. These forms are available from the School Office.
A waiting list will be in operation. Parents who wish their children to join the school at a time other than the annual autumn admission, are also subject to the admission criteria; should there be more children on the waiting list than places available.
The Admissions Panel reserves the right not to consider applications, which are submitted after the specified deadline.
When a place becomes available, families will be contacted to ascertain whether the place is still required, before the applications on the waiting list are processed according to the Governors’ Criteria.
Successful applicants will be notified via a letter of confirmation.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE
Parent(s) must produce the following documentary evidence to support the application:
- Proof of Address of Parent/Legal Guardian.
- Birth Certificate OR Passport belonging to the child.
- For criteria 2-5 a completed School's Supplementary form (duly completed and signed in his own hand by the parish priest, minister or overseeing pastor) which confirms the parent's commitment to and regular involvement in worship at their church, so that governors can consider the application fully.
Parents are advised to urge their priest, minister or pastor to return the Supplementary application form on or before the deadline date.
In the event of oversubscription within a category the child living nearest to the school measured in a straight line by the local authority. Where two children have the same distance measurement a decision will be made using random allocation.
The Nursery at St. Ann’s CE Primary School has places for Part Time and Full Time children.
Full Time sessions run from 9am -3.30pm. Part-time places are flexible and can be a mix of mornings and afternoons across part or all of the week. Morning sessions run from 9.00 am until 12.00 pm and afternoon sessions start at 12.30 pm and finish at 3.30pm. A school Breakfast Club is available for all children from 8am daily.
The cost for a Full Time place is £75 a week.
Parents should note that a place in the Reception class is not guaranteed for children in the Nursery. Parents will need to apply for a place in the Reception class via the School Office and the Local Authority.
An induction meeting for entry into the Nursery class is held each Summer Term of the year of admission in order that pupils and parents can meet the class teacher and the Nursery Nurse. At this meeting, details of the staggered entry system into the Nursery year will be made available to parents.
There are 30 Reception places at St. Ann’s CE Primary School. It is staffed with a Teacher and a Teaching Assistant.
Children admitted to the Reception, start school in the Autumn Term in a staggered intake system for a week. During their first week, children stay for morning sessions only, and we ask that parents/carers stay with them to ease their settling in.

*Admission policy to the school
The Governors are responsible for admissions to this Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School, which are revised annually.St Ann’s CE Primary School is a 1-form entry school with 30 places for each academic year group. Where the number of applicants exceeds the number of available places the governors will use admissions criteria.
For entry to St Ann’s CE Primary School, 70% of available places will be allocated under Foundation (Church) Criteria and 30% under Open Criteria (based on proximity to school).
Applications should be made either for a Foundation Place or for an Open Place.
Candidates unsuccessful in their application for a Foundation Place will automatically be considered for an Open Place.
Where there are more applications than places available, places will be allocated according to the following criteria, listed in order of priority:
1.Looked After Children (i.e., children in the care of the Local Authority) or a child who was previously looked after but immediately after being looked after became the subject to an adoption, residence or special guardianship order.
The remaining places will be allocated 70% Foundation Places and 30% Open Places
All parents applying on our Foundation Criteria should complete our Supplementary Information form so that governors may consider their application fully, in addition to the Haringey form. Supplementary Forms should be collected from the school office or downloaded from the school website and returned direct to the school.
2.Children who will have a sibling[i] at the school at the time of entry and whose parent(s)[ii] are, and have been, regular and committed worshippers[iii] in St Ann’s Church, Avenue Road for not less than two years before the closing date of application. A form of authorisation, signed by the Parish Priest to this effect, is required.
3.Children whose parent(s)ii are, and have been, regular and committed worshippersiii in St Ann’s Church, Avenue Road for not less than two years before the closing date of application. A form of authorisation, signed by the Parish Priest to this effect, is required.
4.Children who will have a siblingi at the school at the time of entry and whose parent(s)iiare, and have been, regular and committed worshippersiii in Christchurch, Waldeck Road and St Marks (Methodist) for not less than two years before the closing date of application. A form of authorisation, signed by the Parish Priest[iv] to this effect, is required.
5.Children whose parent(s)ii are, and have been, regular and committed worshippersiii in Christchurch , Waldeck Road and St Marks (Methodist) for not less than two years before the closing date of application. A form of authorisation, signed by the Parish Priestiv to this effect, is required.
6.Children whose parent(s)ii are, and have been, regular and committed worshippersiii at churches of another Christian denomination that are members of Churches together in Britain and Ireland or the Evangelical Alliance, for not less than Eighteen Months before the closing date of application. A form of authorisation, signed by the Parish Priestiv to this effect, is required.
In the event that two or more applicants have equal right to a place under the Foundation Place Criteria, the Governing Body will give priority to those children living in nearest proximity to the school.[v] In cases where multiple siblings tie for the last available place, then all will be offered a place, even if this exceeds the planned admission number (in the event of this occurring the number of Open Places offered will be adjusted accordingly).
i By ‘sibling’ we mean brother or sister, half brother or sister, adopted brother or sister, step brother or sister, or the child of the carer’s partner where the child for whom the place is sought is living in the same family unit at the same address as the sibling.
[ii] By ‘parent(s)’, we mean the primary care giver, with whom the child lives.
[iii] By ‘regular and committed’ worshippers, we mean parents who attend church services at least once a month.
[iv] If a family has recently moved and worshipped regularly, right up until their departure, at another Anglican parish, the application must be countersigned by their previous Parish Priest. In the case of a vacancy, or where there is no priest in the parish, the application must be countersigned by a Church Warden.
[v] Distances will be measured from the child’s home address, in a straight line, to the centre of the school using the Haringey Local Authority computerised measuring system and proof of address, e.g. Child Benefit/Council Tax/Electoral Roll documentation will be required both at the time of application and at the time of entry. In the case of two distances being the same the computer system will randomly order the priority of applicants
In order to be considered for a place at the school parents must complete the Local Authority Common Application Form naming the school. This should be returned to the Local Authority. For consideration under criteria 2-6 parents should also complete the school’s Supplementary Form, which should be returned to the school. Parents will be informed of the relevant dates by which the forms should be returned.
Parent(s) is defined as the person(s) who cares for the child and has parental responsibility.
